Yoga Teacher Training

I just got back from Hawaii 2 days ago. I was in Maui for 3 WHOLE weeks, completing my yoga teacher training. I learned so much and experienced so many soul-fulfilling activities. I cried, laughed, and learned so much about myself. It was like all the tools I have learned from going through years of therapy finally made sense in a way they never had before. I embodied them. They were a part of my being. Instead of just understanding how to set boundaries, and trust myself, for the first time, I was experiencing what these things felt like in my body as well. I cultivated friendships that felt so light-hearted, warm, and deep. I felt seen, heard, appreciated, and genuinely loved by my fellow trainees. Then there was yoga. The way I was able to expand my consciousness and heal was breathtaking. Yoga truly is a remarkable way to digest emotions and trauma.

The Schedule:

Waking up at precisely 6 am each morning, beating even the sun from rising. We walked from the house where all the trainees stayed over to the Yoga Shala, where we would eat, practice yoga, and learn.

We would start the day with Karma Yoga, otherwise known as selfless acts of service. Next, we would all sit down and have delicious coffee together. Following coffee and morning chit-chat, our first class was the Philosophy of Yoga. We learned about the yoga sutras, the eight limbs of yoga, chakras, Patanjali, meditation, and chanting. After philosophy, we had an Asana practice with local yoga teachers. Next was  Breakfast and then yet another yoga practice, lunch, and then lastly, Pranayama (breathing practice). And repeat every day for 3 weeks. This immersive experience taught me so much about myself, yoga, and even other people!

Yoga Fact of the day:

Yoga means the union of mind, body, and soul. Coming into complete stillness.
